| 5-3-2008 | 5-30-2008 | DST | Summer swim/water safety programs set - The 2008 Summer Swimming and Water Safety Program at the Tomahawk swimming pool offers swimming and water safety instruction to the youth of the Tomahawk area using the American Red Cross Level 1-7 Progression and also includes the Guard Start course for advanced swimmers, ages 12 and up. Registration for the 2008 program will take place in the Tomahawk Schools Commons Area, located outside of the pool doors, beginning Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and continuing thereafter at the pool office according to the following schedule or until all classes are filled to capacity: Sundays, 3-5 p.m. (not May 25); Mondays, 2-3:15 p.m. and 5-6:30 p.m. (not May 26); Tuesdays, 6-8 a.m. and 2-6:30 p.m.; Wednesdays, 2-3:15 p.m. and 5-6:30 p.m.; Thursdays, 6-8 a.m.; and Fridays, 2-5 p.m. (Call the pool at 453-2126, ext. 220 to arrange a special time to register if the times above don’t work for you.) Registrations must be made in person and will not be accepted before May 3, on Saturdays (except for May 3), through the mail, over the phone or without payment. The fee for Level 1-7 classes is $25 per swimmer, per course. The Guard Start class fee is $35, which includes a textbook. These are non-refundable, non-transferable registration American Red Cross fees. All fees must be paid at time of registration in cash or checks made payable to the Tomahawk School District. All swimmers enrolled in the courses must be at least through their five-year-old Kindergarten year of school. There are no classes for K-four or pre-school age children. | 6-16-2008 | 6-18-2008 | DST | The Tomahawk girls’ basketball program will host a Youth Basketball Camp June 16-18 for girls entering grades 3-8 in the fall. The goal of the camp is to help each camper develop fundamental basketball skills, while participating in a fun, competitive environment. Emphasis will be placed on ball handling, shooting and individual offensive moves. Participants will receive individual instruction and a camp T-shirt. The camp staff includes Hatchet coaches, along with former and current high school players. The fee for the camp is $25. Girls in grades 3-5 will have camp from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The sixth-through-eighth-grade girls will have camp from 10 a.m. to noon.
