The Nicolet College Foundation is offering scholarships to graduating seniors again this year. Many of the students at Nicolet College receive scholarships to help offset the cost of their education. There is help paying for tuition and books: $500 to $3,000 for full-time students; and $400 for part-time students. The scholarship application process for the 2017-2018 academic year began Jan. 23 and continues through Feb. 15.

about the value of self, empowerment, and making a diference in putting a
stop to bullying. He will speak in the evening in a community effort to promote
positive choices, self worth and understanding of individual differences. The
event is open to any community members, students and their families. Pizza
and refreshments will follow. Sponsored by TMS/TES, Kinship, Tomahawk
ABC, and local church communities.

The Oneida County Conservation and UW Extension Education Committee and the Land & Water Conservation Department will hold a Conservation Awareness Speaking Contest Thursday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. in the County Board room on the Oneida County Courthouse, Rhinelander.
The speaking contest is open to grades 5-12 and promotes conservation of natural resources and protection or enhancement of environmental quality. Local winners can advance to state competition. This year’s contest is dedicated to Jean Hansen, Oneida County conservationist, who passed away on Jan. 4, 2016.
This year’s poster contest is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The theme is “Healthy Soils Are Full of Life.”
Posters will be judged Jan. 31 and will be on display for the speaking contest. Posers will be on display at the Courthouse

The Merrill Area Church Fast Pitch Softball League will soon be starting its 68th season. The league is co-ed and primarily serves Lincoln and Marathon counties. The mission is to provide competition between church affi liated teams while maintaining a Christian atmosphere.
