Public school open enrollment, Wisconsin’s public school choice program, continues its steady growth since it began in the 1998-99 school year with a new application period beginning Feb. 6 and running through April 28 for the 2017-18 school year.
5-5-20178-31-2017DSTYMCA hosts partner pickle ball tourney
The YMCA of the Northwoods, Rhinelander is hosting an indoor pickleball partner tournament on Saturday, May 6 which is open to anyone in the area. Participants register with a partner and play a round robin format based on their USAPA ratings. Teams will be given a
starting play time based on the number of teams entered. Teams are guaranteed five games and USAPA rules will apply throughout the
tournament. Registration is open to the first 30 teams and must be made by April 20. The fee per team is $50. Proceeds from this tournament support the Y Annual Support Campaign which provides scholarships for youth, adults and families to attend YMCA programs and activities. Youth soccer makes return to Tomahawk
The Tomahawk Youth Soccer League will be coming back this year. Liam Hogan is the new Athletic Director and is excited to get this
fun opportunity for kids 5-18 going again. The program will run July 11 to Aug. 31 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Registration begins May 1 and is available at Chuck’s Sports Shop, The Spirit Cove Tavern and other locations to be announced. Tomahawk Youth Soccer can also be found on Facebook or email liam@hogancomputing.com. The organization needs volunteers to
coach and run the concession stand. If you can coach or help out in any way, contact Liam Hogan at 808-494-8579 (call or text.)
The league is also looking for local businesses to sponsor teams. Sponsors will get a sign next to the field they sponsor and will have a
spot on the back of team t-shirts. Contact Hogan for more information.

5-24-20175-24-2017THSFour Tomahawk High School senior art students will host an Art Show Wednesday, May 24 from 3:45 to 6 p.m. Showing many of their art pieces created throughout the year are Madison Krueger-Brown, Hayley Strong, Katie Vannatter, and Ciaara Clifford. There also will be food offered in an interactive food exhibit that the students have created.
Visitors should enter through the doors next to the high school office, #23.
