Public school open enrollment, Wisconsin’s public school choice program, continues its steady growth since it began in the 1998-99 school year with a new application period beginning Feb. 6 and running through April 28 for the 2017-18 school year.

|4-29-2017||4-29-2017||THS||THS Prom Saturday Tomahawk High School’s Junior Prom takes place Saturday, April 29 between 7:30 and 11:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “An Endless Night.” Music will be provided by Professional Sound and Light. |
The king and queen will be crowned that night. Court members were not known as of presstime.
The Grand March takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the district auditorium.
Spectators will be allowed to enter through Door #6 (only) at 7 p.m. Spectator passes will be sold at the door for $5 per person.
After the Grand March, spectators will have an opportunity to take pictures and then will be asked to exit through Door #6 by approximately 8:30 p.m. so the students can begin their dance.

Registration underway for Chamber Spring Swing The public is invited to spend a fun day of golf, food, socializing and prizes during the Tomahawk Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Two-Person Spring Swing being held at Edgewater Country Club Friday, May 5.
The golf outing includes nine holes of golf, lunch and plenty of raffle prizes. Lunch is at noon with shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost per two person team is $70. To register, call the chamber at 715-453-5334. To reserve a cart, contact Edgewater at 715-453-3320.
Giant Pine Trail hike April 19
Northern Paddle and Trail invites the public to take part in hiking the two-mile loop trail in the Pine River Headwaters Wilderness Area near Three Lakes on Wednesday, April 19. Meet at the Three Lakes Winery at 10 a.m. Lunch with the group following is optional. Call

YMCA hosts partner pickle ball tourney
The YMCA of the Northwoods, Rhinelander is hosting an indoor pickleball partner tournament on Saturday, May 6 which is open to anyone in the area. Participants register with a partner and play a round robin format based on their USAPA ratings. Teams will be given a
starting play time based on the number of teams entered. Teams are guaranteed five games and USAPA rules will apply throughout the
tournament. Registration is open to the first 30 teams and must be made by April 20. The fee per team is $50. Proceeds from this tournament support the Y Annual Support Campaign which provides scholarships for youth, adults and families to attend YMCA programs and activities. Youth soccer makes return to Tomahawk
The Tomahawk Youth Soccer League will be coming back this year. Liam Hogan is the new Athletic Director and is excited to get this
fun opportunity for kids 5-18 going again. The program will run July 11 to Aug. 31 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Registration begins May 1 and is available at Chuck’s Sports Shop, The Spirit Cove Tavern and other locations to be announced. Tomahawk Youth Soccer can also be found on Facebook or email email@example.com. The organization needs volunteers to
coach and run the concession stand. If you can coach or help out in any way, contact Liam Hogan at 808-494-8579 (call or text.)
The league is also looking for local businesses to sponsor teams. Sponsors will get a sign next to the field they sponsor and will have a
